Under Vehicle Scanning

IVACS is the Under Vehicle Monitoring System from Stratech.  With its innovative technology, the system supports fast and easy detection of dangerous objects such as weapons, explosives, drugs and contraband.  In contrast to conventional vehicle underside control methods like hand-held mirrors or inspection wells, IVACS facilitates reliable safety inspections without slowing down the flow of traffic at the access point.

The IVACS system essentially comprises a scanning unit, a workstation, traffic lights and a light barrier.  The scanning unit consists of a camera, a mirror and a lighting unit.  The scanning unit uses a high-resolution camera to capture the entire underside of a vehicle in moving traffic.  Different heights of undercarriages (car/truck) as well as the vehicle length are taken into account.  The underside is then displayed as high-resolution image on the screen.

The IVACS systems is available as a ruggidized mobile system or an embedded system for permanent construction. To permit the correlation between an underside image and the corresponding vehicle, a frontend image capture camera as well as an automatic license plate reader is integrated into the system.  All the data collected or manually entered is stored in a database under the vehicle license plate number.
